It's easy to make your own curtains and valances with the aid of a basic sewing machine. The simplest curtain you can make is the tab-top kind, wherein strips of the same fabric are sewn on the top edge of the curtain, "tab style". The rod is then slid through these tabs.
A valance can be made by folding the top edge of your fabric over about four inches. Sew at the two-inch mark for a ruffle, and sew just above the edge for a rod pocket.
How about a great no-sew window treatment which you can finish in minutes? Just drape a huge scarf or a plush fabric over a curtain rod, and you're done!
